Quilts Round 29: Floral Study
05 November 2025
The new round of A.P.C. Quilts is inspired by flowers: their form, their structure, and the quiet power they hold. For Round 29, designer Jessica Ogden studied blooms closely, dissecting them to understand their rhythm and translating that observation into textiles.
Her references include artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Nick Knight, who both reveal nature’s beauty by simply letting it be. She also looked at historical botanical drawings, which served as the photographs of their time, capturing the precision and poetry of plants. Some of the quilt designs are more abstract, as if seen through a kaleidoscope, fragmented yet harmonious.
Each quilt begins as a hand drawing in Jessica Ogden’s studio in Jamaica. The fabrics are then chosen from A.P.C.’s leftover production stock and assembled like watercolors, combining shades and textures to create new compositions. The pieces are brought to life by A.P.C.’s workshop in India, whose craftsmanship allows for intricate and inventive patch-work work, and which Jean Touitou visited last winter while this round was being made. This round was photographed by Alfredo Piola on Margarita Island, Venezuela.
